Our Philosophy

Imagine ...

A Synagogue that welcomes all, with affordable yearly dues, and no building fund.

A Synagogue where women are welcome on the Bima and the children are invited to open the Ark or lead the Congregation in the V'A-HAVTAH during Shabbat morning services.

A Synagogue without a separate Children's Service because we believe that children belong with their parents. (How else will they develop memories of playing with the fringes on Papa's or Zaide's Tallis in Shul?)

A Synagogue with warmth, traditional spirituality, and a modern social philosophy.

A Synagogue that takes a pro-active stand within the community.

A Synagogue that is committed to supporting programs which provide food
for the hungry and homeless.

A Synagogue that welcomes all, whether Jewish, or simply curious about Judaism.

... that Synagogue is Congregation Amchah

Here's what one of our members has to say...

Nine years ago, with my first child at three years of age, I decide to look for a spiritual home. While looking through the yellow pages I came across an ad for Congregation Amchah. I called and talked diectly to our then Rabbi, Larry Winer. I asked many questions; was my intermarriage welcomed, yes was the answer, were my children welcomed during the service, yes was the answer. I decide to go and check out a Shabbat service, and what I found was a small group of the most welcoming people, an atmosphere that was nurturing to both my children, and to my wife and myself. After nine years, and some growing, both in numbers and spiritually, I have concluded that this is the only temple in South Florida that I want to belong to. - SETH C WEXLER
